Description
This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is finished in gold over a matching interior and is powered by a 396ci V8 paired with a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle. Features include steel wheels with SS-branded wheel covers, front disc brakes, front bucket seats, an electric clock, chrome bumpers, a black tail panel and grille, and a dual exhaust system. The car was acquired by the seller in 1990 and underwent a rotisserie refurbishment that included repainting the body, rebuilding the engine and rear axle, and resealing the transmission. The body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in Granada Gold. Exterior details include a blacked-out grille, a hood with faux twin scoops, 396 badging on the front fenders, SS396 emblems on the grille and rear cove, Super Sport script on the rear quarter panels, quad headlamps, reverse lamps, and dual exhaust outlets exiting behind the rear wheels. The 14" steel wheels wear SS-branded wheel covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown redline tires. Stopping power is provided by unassisted front discs and rear drums. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in gold vinyl, joined by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a center console with a front-mounted electric clock, heater and defroster, polished door sills, retractable lap belts, floor vents, and an AM radio that works intermittently. The three-spoke SS steering wheel frames a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge, with a tachometer and left turn signal indicator mounted to the instrument panel. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 89k miles, approximately 5k of which were added by the seller. The 396ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor, an orange engine block and intake manifold, and chrome air cleaner and valve covers. The engine is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership and requires warming before idling on its own. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission and the 12-bolt Positraction rear axle with 4.10:1 gears. The transmission was resealed, and the rear axle is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership.
