Description
This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 underwent a body-off refurbishment completed in 2004, which included repainting the car in metallic blue, reupholstering the interior, powder coating the frame, and replacing the trunk floor. A 468ci V8 was installed in 2017, paired with a Muncie M-22 four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear differential. Additional modifications include power-assisted front disc brakes, polished 17" Budnik wheels, Bilstein shocks, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, and TMI front bucket seats. The car is offered with the removed 396ci L35 V8 and other spare parts, as well as manufacturer's literature and a clean California title.
The body was repainted around 2003, with various trim pieces replaced at that time. Exterior features include chrome side-view mirrors, bumpers, and SS and 396 badging. Polished 17" Budnik wheels wear Hankook Ventus HRII tires, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. The car rides on Bilstein shocks at all four corners, with suspension components powder coated black. The cabin features TMI front bucket seats with black fabric inserts and retains lap belts for all occupants. A push-button Delco AM radio, aftermarket steering wheel, and a replacement center console with an analog clock converted to quartz movement are included. Removed center console, steering wheel, and bucket seats are included. Instrumentation consists of a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles, approximately 5k added under current ownership.
The 468ci V8, built in 2018 by JMS Racing Engines, features a four-bolt main block, Brodix cylinder heads, Keith Black pistons, a 527/544 lift hydraulic roller camshaft, Scat crankshaft and rods, polished valve covers, and an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold with a single carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the Muncie M-22 four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter and a 12-bolt Eaton Positraction differential with 3.18:1 gearing. The frame was powder coated during refurbishment, and the trunk floor was replaced. The removed Powerglide automatic transmission and its shifter are included, as well as the rebuilt 396ci L35 V8 and Holley carburetor.
