Description
This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 fastback is finished in Highland Green with GT500 side stripes and is powered by a replacement 428ci Cobra Jet V8 featuring a performance hydraulic roller camshaft, Crane forged distributor gear, lifters and rockers, Clevite bearings, FMS valve covers, ARP hardware, a polished crankshaft, Crower Cams keepers and seat cups, and Ferrea Racing valves. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
Exterior features include a ducktail rear spoiler, fender extensions, air scoops on the sail and quarter panels, and a fiberglass ventilated hood with a ram-air scoop. Aluminum 10-spoke 15" wheels are fitted with 225/60 front and 245/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The suspension includes heavy-duty front coil springs with an anti-roll bar and heavy-duty rear leaf springs, with spring spacers installed. The brake system is power-assisted and was serviced and flushed.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a folding Sport Deck rear seat trimmed in black vinyl, front seat shoulder harnesses, and the Visibility and Interior Decor groups. A '67-style Shelby tilt-away steering wheel is installed. The radio is nonfunctional, and adjustment knobs are missing.
The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles, with approximately 250 miles added since the restoration. Service and rebuild work include a replacement oil pan and a rebuilt carburetor.
